Who cares?
Last September 2008 Age Concern London launched the ‘Who Cares?’ campaign which aims to identify the level of unmet need for social care and preventative services for older people in London.
On 20th April the report "Getting care right for older Londoners" will be release. The research reveals that an estimated 270, 000 older Londoners may need some degree of care. We hope the research and evidence raised in the report will open up discussions with local authorities, PCTs and other stakeholders to address the current care situation by;
- Changing the Fair Access to Care Services criteria and charging policies
- Developing preventive strategies and services
- Working with Age Concern/ voluntary and community sectors to ensure that adequate quality care provision is being achieved across London.A short film about care experiences produced by a production team of older volunteers is also being release as part of the campaign. It shows only to poignantly the of disparity of care provision and the need for change.
