Fighting Ageism in LondonFighting Ageism in London

In August 2007 Age Concern London in partnership with the Holborn Community Association, commissioned professional filmmaker Ivan Riches to direct a group of younger and older volunteers to make a film about ageing and ageism in London.

The film forms part of a campaign ‘How Ageism is London?’ which aims to highlight the damaging existence of ageism in London and to challenge negative attitudes towards older people that have, for too long, been deemed ‘acceptable’ by service providers and the general public.

A special screening of the film will is being hosted by The British Film Institute on 31st July 08. See events for further details.

This insightful and challenging film is also available on DVD free of charge.

  • Want a FREE PC?Want a FREE PC?

If you are over 50 and living in London then you are eligible to receive a free computer as part of the 'Computers For Older People Project'. The London Mayor Ken Livingstone and not for profit computer recycling company Maxitech have joined forces with Age Concern London in an initiative that aims to open up the online world to London’s older citizens. Due to high demand registrations for free computers have been temporarily suspended whilst we source more donated computers. We hope to re-commense taking registrations again in September 2008.
